The central figure, in the round, depicts a Zouave soldier of the French colonial infantry in service uniform and fez, captured in a dynamic pose while blowing the horn. On either side of the sculpture are two hollow containers shaped like breastplates/armors, which serve as pen holders. The piece is distinguished by its refined double antimony finish (burnished body and contrasting gold details) mounted on a solid Nero Antico marble base.
