The girl is portrayed looking into the distance, in keeping with the typical Romantic style, and is wearing the typical clothing of the Italian Risorgimento period (1820-1861). The engraver, with a love of detail, has captured the intricate hairstyle near the ear and the woman's clean, delicate features.
She is likely the daughter of a merchant from northern Italy, possibly Turin.
Time has stained the heavy cardboard on which this delicate work is made, but has not diminished its charm.
