A refined silver four-tier box designed for smoking essentials—matches in the top tier, followed by compartments for cigarettes and cigars, with a concealed ashtray in the base. Made by wright & davies (william frederick wright), the piece bears an inscription beneath the second lid, noting its presentation to alfred fripp, “friend of the navy,” in commemoration of the great war, 1914–1918.
