An exceptional and rare matched pair of George III period mahogany chests of drawers, dating to the late 18th century. Find a "near-pair" or matched set of Georgian chests is a significant rarity, as these pieces were traditionally commissioned or purchased individually.
Each chest features a beautifully figured mahogany top over a classic two-over three graduated drawer configuration. The pieces retain a rich, warm patina and are punctuated by their original-style brass swan-neck pulls and escutcheons (the slightly taller of the two retains its original hardware). They are raised on traditional bracket feet, lending them a grounded yet elegant silhouette. Their proportions make them an ideal choice in a bedroom as oversized nightstands, or as a balanced statement in a grand entryway or dining room.
