It is one of the varieties of the famous "Pietra viva" and it is not by chance that all the greatest sculptors and artists in history (Michelangelo, Donatello, Bernini, Canova) have created their most famous works with this excellent variety of marble, with such elegant colors that it seems almost ethereal. The lamp, which was built in an artisan workshop in Milan between 1960 and 1963 is in perfect style Stilnovo Diabolo model, a product 100% made in Italy. Founded in Milan by Bruno Gatta, in 1946, Stilnovo was for years the most important reality in the world of lighting equipment design. It was a laboratory and a hotbed of ideas during the post-war reconstruction and the following economic boom; the most prestigious names in Italian design have collaborated with Stilnovo, such as Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, Joe Colombo, Danilo and Corrado Aroldi, Roberto Beretta, Antonio Macchi Cassia, De Pas D’Urbino Lomazzi Studio, Ettore Sottsass, Cini Boeri and Gae Aulenti who designed memorable pieces for this small Milanese company. What characterizes Stilnovo, in the 50s-60s, is the production and marketing of lamps with a particular cone shape. At the time designed by the Centro Stile Interno, they became unique pieces. True symbols of the elegance of those years. In fact, they left an indelible mark on the design and fashion industry. The brass parts show slight signs of the time, but this guarantees its age and authenticity. The electrical system has been completely redone with USA wiring, the compatibility of the voltage in other states must always be verified by an electrician before use.
