An original flyer for the theater production of Andy Warhol’s Pork at the Round House in London August 1971z. Portrait of Warhol on the front by with a silver background and pink lettering. On the back is the date and ticket prices with a blurb from the New York Times Review. In good condition with some handling marks
An original flyer for the theater production of Andy Warhol’s Pork at the Round House in London August 1971z. Portrait of Warhol on the front with a silver background and pink lettering. On the back is the date and ticket prices with a blurb from the New York Times Review. In good condition with some handling marks along the edges. There are some faded areas in the black on the left, but looks to be the result of the original printing method and not a defect. In good condition overall.
Size: 8.5”H x 5.5”W
Pork opened on May 5, 1971, at La MaMa theater in New York for a two-week run and was brought to the Roundhouse in London for a longer run in August 1971. Pork was based on tape-recorded conversations between Brigid Berlin and Warhol during which Brigid would play for Warhol tapes she had made of phone conversations between herself and her mother, socialite Honey Berlin. It was directed by Anthony Ingrassia, and stage-managed by Leee Black Childers.
The play featured Jayne County as "Vulva" and Cherry Vanilla as "Amanda Pork". Other cast members included Tony Zanetta as a Warhol-analogue called B. Marlowe, Cleve Roller and Suzanne Smith.
Cherry Vanilla and Julia Breck appeared in the London production.
