Newton captured this image at while on vacation with David Bowie in Monte Carlo in 1983. Bowie and Newton were close friends with Bowie amassing one of the largest private collections of Newton's work throughout his career. This striking portrait captures Bowie's chiseled looks and immediately recognizable style.

Condition and Materials

Vintage silver gelatin print developed on a 20" x 24" thick photographic paper. Print is in excellent condition, never framed or displayed, and stored in climate controlled facility. Print displays the beautiful depth and distinctive wavy gloss finish that silver gelatin prints are revered for. Provenance

This collection of prints are owned by a private party that acquired the collection directly from the artist. The collection of prints are 1980's production originally designed for retail distribution. Following a series of exhibitions at renowned galleries in London, New York, Paris, and Los Angeles, the remaining prints were acquired from Newton directly and documented in a signed legal agreement between parties in 1986. This agreement was further ratified following Newton's passing in 2012 by the Helmut Newton Estate, signed by June Newton, and recorded and filed in the Superior Court of Los Angeles. Print comes with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by legal representative detailing ownership, right to sell, and authenticity.
