This classic form features an upper glazed bookcase with geometric mullion detailing, a slant-front writing surface, and a thoughtfully arranged interior with pigeonholes and drawers—an enduring design originally intended for correspondence, record-keeping, and household administration.

The upper cabinet opens to reveal fixed shelving, ideal for displaying books, ceramics, or decorative objects, while the fall-front desk opens smoothly to create a generous writing surface. Inside, a series of compartments and small drawers provide excellent organization for papers and personal items. Below, multiple full-depth drawers offer substantial storage, all fitted with original hardware and operating smoothly.

Crafted from solid mahogany and finished in its original, warm patina, the piece is crowned with a traditional broken-scroll pediment. A decorative pendant element is included and sits at the top; while it does not appear to be original to the piece, it complements the overall aesthetic and will be included with the desk. The original wooden finial or top element is no longer present.

The desk has been exceptionally well cared for over the past century. All drawers and slides function properly, and the original locks remain intact, though the original key has been lost. The original finish has been preserved throughout, showing only the expected, honest wear consistent with a piece of this age—adding character without detracting from its integrity or usability.
