The pattern was licensed … Read more A gorgeous, solid sterling silver soup ladle of substantial weight in the "Palm" pattern by Gorham. The pattern was licensed in 1871 but believe this ladle was made in 1897 based on the hallmarks being applied by an inset punch without any shields. I do not know what the number 2 represents, but the other Gorham hallmarks are a lion (facing right), an anchor, and the capital letter G in Old English font which was used during the last quarter of the 19th century, and the word "sterling." The ladle is in excellent condition with no thinning of the edges and has not been monogrammed. An anti-tarnish storage bag is included. See less
