In the 18th century, some authors considered the carpetsfrom the province of Kerman, especially at Siftan, to be the finest of all Persian carpets, partly because of the high quality of wool from the region, known as Carmania wool. This antique Persian rug is a magnificent example of the sublime Kerman craftsmanship.

Its main field bears a dense and impressive allover pattern of meandering stylized flowers, vines and oversized palmettes, enclosed within a series of equally decorative borders kept in the spirit of the main design, with further bold palmettes, foliage and flowering climbers. Its truly royal color palettes bases on the luxurious indigo, complemented with subtle shades of camel and ivory beige.
