Craftsmen from the city of Tabriz are famed for their great talent . Persian rugs they create are worthy of kings and some of them did found their way to various courts and palaces. Antique Tabriz rugs are widely known for their diversity. They can range from flat to pile weaves. Patterns of Tabriz rugs can feature not only traditional Persian motifs, but sometimes also fully-fledged reproductions of famous works of art.
This stunning antique Tabriz rug was woven in the late 19th century, circa 1880. The beauty of its colors can be rivaled only by the elegance of pattern. The main field features a large central medallion, accompanied by an all over floral motif, containing various types of flowers, vines and leaves. The whole is bordered by a skillfully designed elegant frame. Color palette of this piece was composed using mostly subdued hues of green, beige and black.
