## ABOUT THE EDITORS:
**Brigadier General Harold W. Nelson, USA (Ret.)** served as Editor-in-Chief and was president of the Army Historical Foundation at the time of publication. A graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point (Class of 1963), General Nelson served as an artillery officer in Vietnam, Korea, and Germany. In 1989, he became the Chief of Military History for the U.S. Army and also taught on the faculty at West Point. His distinguished career and scholarly expertise made him uniquely qualified to oversee this comprehensive history.
**Major General Bruce Jacobs, AUS** and **Colonel Raymond K. Bluhm Jr., USA** served as Graphics Editor, bringing their combined military experience and editorial expertise to ensure historical accuracy and compelling visual presentation throughout the volume.
