A tetsubin (iron kettle) and cover
By Daikoku made for the Seijudo Company, Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century
Cast in a lovely silhouette, decorated in high relief with a Chinese scholar possibly Zhao Mengfu (1254-1322) and dimensional dragon handle mounts, the reverse with a three-line inscription, the handle overlaid with floral sprays in gold and silver low relief, signed Daikoku tsukuru, the cover surmounted with a bud finial, the inside of the cover signed with chiselled characters Seijudo tsukuru. It is in great condition and measures 9 1/4 inches tall by 6 1/2 inches wide.
