The iconic 606 bookcase, designed by Dieter Rams for Vitsoe in 1960, is truly timeless. Its understated and adaptable design integrates seamlessly into all types of interiors, both classic and modern. The bookcase was available in white or black satin laminate. Each element—shelf or module—is screwed to aluminum plates that hold the entire system together. The elements are then placed on the rails by manually inserting small aluminum cylinders; no tools are required. Everything is modular and height-adjustable. The rails are stamped with the Vitsoe brand. The entire set is in very good vintage condition. Some elements show a patina consistent with the bookcase's age, such as signs of wear on the edges. This set consists of: 3 modules with sliding doors equipped with aluminum handles and one module with a drop-down door. 7 shelves, 4 aluminum E-track rails of 171 cm for wall mounting. The manufacturer's booklet will be provided, containing assembly instructions and diagrams, as well as new original wall plugs (for concrete wall mounting) and screws. To facilitate assembly, a board sized to match the spacing between the rails will be included; simply place a level on it. Dimensions: Total length: 276 cm, Depth: 38 cm. Total height shown in the photos: 216 cm (the height of the lower units is 82 cm). Length of each unit: 90.2 cm. Shelf depth: 24 cm (including the wall), 21 cm (shelf only). Cabinet depth: 38 cm (including the wall), 35.5 cm (cabinet only). Cabinet height: 39.5 cm. Dieter Rams is 93 years old today. He designed extensively for the hi-fi brand Braun: amplifiers, tuners, TVs, radios, record players, and more. He created hi-fi systems that have become cult classics and are highly sought after by music lovers and design enthusiasts, such as the Wandanlage wall-mounted hi-fi system. He clearly revolutionized industrial design in the 1960s and 70s and influenced generations of designers. The iPhone was heavily inspired by his work.
