This generous matcha bowl features a classic Ido-inspired silhouette with an open, gently flaring rim and a noticeably high foot. It is wheel-thrown in a light, slightly coarser clay, visible in the fine speckling and the subtle texture of the surface.
Dimensions: height 9 cm, diameter 13.5 cm.
The bowl is finished with a transparent wood-ash glaze that flows softly over the body and thins in places, allowing warm clay tones and a calm greyish field to show through. Its restrained, wabi-sabi character relates closely to Hagi-influenced tea ceramics, where the glaze often gains even more depth through time and use.
The interior is pleasantly open and functional—ideal for whisking matcha comfortably, with a volume that also works well for a small coffee or a dessert. A small impressed seal mark is present on the underside near the foot.
Condition: very good, with light, natural traces and glaze character consistent with this type of ceramic.
