An outstanding plant stand from the Vienna Secession period.
The quality of the craftsmanship points to the Viennese metalworker Johannes Heeg, who executed Loos's early (and highest-quality) designs.
Such elaborate production precluded mass manufacturing; it could only be done by hand.
Very thick brass profiles, screwed together at the ends; small parts were hard-soldered.
Weight approx. 15 kg.
A glass top, with glass shelves (fitted with millimeter precision) on the two intermediate levels.
Lit.: Rukschcio, Schachel, Adolf Loos, p. 43, pp. 411f.;
Otillinger, Adolf Loos, p. 160;
Zednicek, Kurrent, Adolf Loos, Fig. 1 (Tailor's Salon); cf. MAK, Vienna, Paths of Modernism, Josef Hoffmann, Adolf Loos and the Consequences, p. 322. This piece is designed in the style of the selected designer and/or manufacturer
