This exceptional antique Persian Laver Kerman carpet is a magnificent palace-size example from the renowned weaving center of Laver (Ravar), celebrated for producing the finest Kerman carpets during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Laver Kerman carpets are distinguished by their extraordinarily fine weave, silky kork wool, graceful floral drawing, and sophisticated use of natural dyes, making them among the most refined Persian carpets ever produced.
The richly detailed midnight-blue field is filled with an elegant all-over pattern of scrolling vines, palmettes, floral sprays, and stylized botehs, creating remarkable symmetry and movement without relying on a central medallion. This continuous floral composition is one of the most desirable classic Laver Kerman designs, allowing the carpet to furnish large interiors with exceptional balance and refinement.
The broad rose-pink border, framed by soft blue guard borders, provides a beautiful contrast to the deep indigo field. The harmonious palette of sapphire blue, rose, ivory, sky blue, soft green, and crimson demonstrates the masterful dye work for which Laver Kerman workshops became internationally renowned. The close-up image also reveals the carpet's exceptionally fine knotting and luxurious wool, producing crisp drawing and remarkable clarity throughout the intricate design.
Its impressive palace dimensions make this carpet especially desirable, as very large Laver Kerman carpets of this quality were woven in limited numbers and are increasingly difficult to acquire in excellent condition. The combination of outstanding craftsmanship, elegant proportions, and superb preservation makes this an exceptional collector's carpet suitable for grand residences, estates, or important interior design projects.
