A glassmaking island near Venice, active since the 13th century, Murano is synonymous with excellence: mastery of glassblowing and solid glassmaking, intense colors, and profound transparencies. In the 20th century, houses like Venini, Barovier & Toso, Seguso, and A.V. Mazzega renewed the techniques (sommerso, murrine, filigrana, avventurina). In the 1970s, the trend shifted towards sculptural volumes and the effects of colored layers or controlled bubbles.
These two stair finials (starting finials) encapsulate this expertise. Mounted on brass/steel bases for installation, they also function as freestanding decorative objects (on a plinth/console). Decorative and luminous pieces, typical of 1970s Murano.
