finely … Read more A late 19th-century louis xvi-style chest of drawers, veneered with various types of wood: walnut, boxwood, rosewood, and maple.
finely decorated with inlays featuring neoclassical motifs, acanthus leaves, human faces, vases with floral festoons, and fillets with various plays of color.
the inlays are present on all sides of the chest of drawers, on the fronts of the drawers, and on the truncated pyramid legs, the latter having been slightly damaged over time.
the interior of the drawers is lined with florentine lily paper, with contemporary brass handles and escutcheons.
the key for the first drawer is present. The locks for the second and third drawers are not working.
the piece is overall sound and solid, with various signs of age and a damp stain on the lining of one drawer. We cleaned and polished it for preservation purposes.
