The Ultimate Collector’s "Time Capsule"
Presented here is an exceptionally rare find for the Maxfield Parrish aficionado: a large-scale, 1927 offset lithograph of the iconic Hilltop. Originally commissioned by the Crane Chocolate Company in 1926, this authorized edition was published by The House of Art, New York, and has remained in its original housing for nearly a century.
The "Mystery Card" & Provenance
What sets this particular piece apart is its untouched state. The verso (back) remains sealed with its original brown craft paper dust cover. Upon tactile inspection, a rectangular card is felt beneath the paper at the top center. In the world of Parrish collecting, this is almost certainly the original House of Art Gallery Label or Certificate of Authenticity. We have chosen to leave this seal unbroken to preserve the integrity and "time capsule" value of the piece—a rarity in a market where most 1920s prints have been re-framed or cleaned.
Visual Brilliance
The colors are strikingly vibrant. The legendary "Parrish Blue" of the sky and the deep, saturated emeralds of the hillside show no signs of the UV-fading or "browning" typically seen in century-old prints. The copyright "© The House of Art, N.Y." is clearly visible in the lower right margin.
The Frame
The piece is housed in its original period frame, featuring the classic 1920s "stippled" texture. The dark finish is accented by a subtle gold-leaf underlayment that peeks through at the corners and ridges, creating a sophisticated, aged patina that perfectly complements the neoclassical subject matter.

Attention Chairish Curation Team:
I am submitting a museum-quality Maxfield Parrish lithograph (Hilltop) that stands out as a "Time Capsule" piece. Published by The House of Art, N.Y. circa 1927, this is the desirable large-format edition (34" \times 22").
Key Highlights for Curation:
Pristine Provenance: This is an "Estate Found" item with its original brown paper seal still intact on the verso.
Untouched Condition: A tactile inspection reveals a gallery card/COA still trapped under the original 100-year-old backing—a rare find for collectors who prioritize "unrestored" integrity.
Exceptional Color: The "Parrish Blue" and forest greens are remarkably vivid, indicating the piece has been kept in a light-controlled environment for decades.
Original Period Frame: Housed in the authentic, stippled Parrish frame with gold-leaf under-bolus, showing a beautiful natural patina that matches the "Chairish Pink Book" high-value sales profile.
This piece represents the gold standard for Golden Age American Illustration and would be a perfect fit for a "High-End Vintage" or "Art Deco" featured collection
