Wine Bottle Holder Lion Head 1970s
Jon Carlos Lopez is an American artist born in Michigan in 1940. Most of his work was completed in the 1970s. This is a good example of the type of pottery he created during that time.
This glazed pottery piece is considered a wine holder with a beautifully rendered tiger on the front in black. the grass at the base is raised.
Although the piece is called a wine holder, it can be used in other ways such as a utensil holder or planter; or simply displayed for its unique design.
This is a very rustic piece with imperfections, all of which appear to have been intentionally created by the artist. One side of the piece has a raised script reading "Lopez".
