Rare art déco goldscheider ceramics figurine around 1930: young dancer in a sleeveless top reminiscent of a bathing suit and wide trousers, a sailor hat on the short black curls, looking to the right and taking a step forward with her right leg, leaning her upper body slightly backwards, her hands relaxed in her trouser pockets. The figure is supported on the left leg, below the featured leg, by a model sailing ship and is based on an oval stepped cream colored base with dark brown shading, signature 'dakon' on top, in front of the ship. Representation of maria solveg, also maria matray or maria solveg-matray (1907 - 1993), a german dancer, choreographer and author. In her younger years she performed mainly on berlin theaters. She also received several film roles and embodied the cheeky-doll-like girl type popular in the 1920s. Designed by stephan dakon (1904 - 1997), one of the most important designerswho worked for the goldscheider manufactory from 1924 until the mid-fifties. Designed and made circa 1928.
