The … Read more This antique five piece Arras garden set dates from the late 19th century, early 20th century (± 1880- 1920). The set consists of a round garden table and four matching Arras chairs, manufactured by the renowned Usine Saint Sauveur from Arras, Northern France.

The chairs feature the characteristic semi-circular iron slats (spine) typical of early Arras wrought ironwork. Each chair is fitted with the original brass maker's plate inscribed Usine St Sauveur Arras. The legs of both the table and the chairs end in the iconic horse hoof feet (sabots), a detail specifically designed to prevent them from sinking into soft lawns.

The round table has an elegant three-legged base with graceful scroll details and a central connector marked Brevete Arras. This table also stands on the signature horse hoof feet.

The old layers of paint have been carefully removed from the wrought iron and the metal has subsequently been polished, resulting in a beautiful effect where the natural patina and the raw beauty of the antique iron are fully highlighted. The entire set is in beautiful antique condition with a weathered patina that emphasizes the historical value of the wrought iron.
