The wood has a warm tone that harmonizes beautifully with the black faux leather seats. The seat covers are in very good condition. The chairs' distinctive form, dominated by the narrow, elongated backrest and the transverse front legs, is reminiscent of minimalist, almost brutalist, Asian designs.

The chairs were designed by Belgian designer Bob van den Berghe in the early 1980s for the Danish manufacturer Tranekaer.
