A rare and striking Contessa "Metronome" seating set Attributed to Carl Otto for Heywood-Wakefield, one of the most sculptural and architectural seating designs of the American Mid-Century Modern era. Exceedingly rare, the Contessa line was Heywood-Wakefield’s premier modern collection, introduced in 1959 and produced in limited numbers.
This set includes the original sofa and matching lounge chair, newly professionally reupholstered in brand-new fabric, offering a clean, tailored look while preserving the integrity of the original design. The angular silhouette, floating seat appearance, and tapered metal legs exemplify Otto’s modernist approach and make this set both highly collectible and extremely livable.
