After Auguste Rodin “Danseuse Cambodgienne” Offset Lithographs, Pair, c. 1990s
Description
This elegant pair of framed offset lithograph prints are reproductions after original drawings by Auguste Rodin (French, 1840–1917), inspired by the celebrated Cambodian Royal Ballet dancers who performed in Paris in 1906. Deeply moved by their expressive gestures and fluid movement, Rodin produced a remarkable series of figure studies capturing the dancers’ grace with minimal line and subtle washes of color.
The pair includes:
Danseuse Cambodgienne Assise (Seated Cambodian Dancer)
Rendered in blue and cream tones, this composition depicts a seated figure with one arm raised, emphasizing rhythm and motion through simplified line and watercolor-style washes.
Danseuse Cambodgienne de Face (Cambodian Dancer, Front View)
Executed in cream and gray hues, this work shows a standing dancer with arms extended, using expressive sketch lines to suggest movement and flowing costume.
Both prints bear the circular “M.R.”blind stamp in the lower right corner, signifying authorization by the Musée Rodin, and are numbered editions 4428 and 4429. Produced in the 1990s using offset lithography, these works faithfully reproduce Rodin’s original ink and watercolor studies.
Presented in matching frames with white mats, the pair offers a refined, timeless aesthetic well-suited for classic, modern, or eclectic interiors. Sold as a matching pair.
