Crafted in South America by a skilled metalworker and finely cast in brass, they are ornately decorated with anthemion style plume motifs with central floral medallions, and the theme is continued throughout. These stirrups were part of the elaborate tack which reflected the importance of the horse in South American Spanish culture, especially during celebrations, as well as providing foot protection when riding through brush.
