An important early Victorian Flow Blue teapot produced by Davenport at Longport, Staffordshire. The Amoy pattern, introduced in 1844, represents one of Davenport’s earliest chinoiserie-inspired designs and is highly regarded by collectors of early English ceramics.
The teapot features deep cobalt-blue flow decoration, now beautifully enriched by time, with strong tonal variation and fluid movement characteristic of early Flow Blue production. The landscape scene remains clear and expressive, and the overall form is elegant and well balanced.
It measures approximately 9 1/2” tall to the finial, 9 1/2” across from handle to spout.

The surface shows overall age-related crazing throughout, with a more continuous area extending from the handle toward the base where the glaze has naturally darkened over time. This crazing is superficial only, not visible from the interior, and does not affect structural integrity. A small chip is present on the interior of the lid, concealed when in place. The teapot is entirely original, with no repairs or restoration, and remains solid and stable. Minor wear to the base is consistent with age. less
