a magnificent and elegant 18th-century french oak commode, known as la parisienne. The oak top features a beveled edge and molding that extends to the sides, which are beautifully hand-finished. The front is divided into three prominent registers or sections, adorned with impressive, oversized cast bronze fittings and gilt bronze shields. The front culminates in a skirt with a gently undulating profile. The commode rests on thick, straight legs that continue the fluted side panels of the front, adding a touch of design and robustness to the piece. An original, high-quality period piece. It retains its original label.
