This elegant antique Persian Dabir Kashan carpet is an exceptional example of the refined craftsmanship associated with the renowned Dabir workshop, one of the most respected weaving ateliers in Kashan during the late Qajar period. Woven around 1910, it displays the superior knot density, beautifully balanced drawing, and luxurious kork wool that distinguish the finest Dabir productions. Many Dabir carpets were unsigned, yet they are recognized by their crisp design, refined floral composition, and exceptional weaving quality.
The carpet features a magnificent raspberry-red field filled with an intricate network of scrolling arabesques, flowering vines, palmettes, and delicate blossoms surrounding an elegant sapphire-blue medallion with an ivory center. The rich floral decoration flows seamlessly across the field, creating remarkable depth while maintaining perfect symmetry. The midnight-blue corner spandrels provide dramatic contrast and beautifully frame the central medallion.
A richly ornamented navy-blue main border, filled with large palmettes, rosettes, and graceful vine scrolls, surrounds the composition and enhances its classical balance. The harmonious palette of raspberry red, deep indigo blue, ivory, soft sky blue, rose, and warm camel has mellowed beautifully over more than a century, giving the carpet the rich patina that collectors prize in fine early Kashan weavings.
The weave is exceptionally fine, allowing extraordinary clarity of detail throughout the design. The kork wool pile is soft, dense, and naturally lustrous, giving the carpet a luxurious texture while preserving excellent durability. Remaining in very good condition, this carpet possesses outstanding decorative appeal and is equally suitable for an elegant traditional interior or a sophisticated contemporary setting.
