Introducing a freshly restored secretary desk designed in the 1960s by the influential Maurice Villency. Constructed from a mix of solid and veneered walnut, a rare choice amongst Danish furniture makers of the period, with exceptional old-growth woodgrains this aesthetically pleasing desk is captivating from every angel and features elegant details like the hand-carved solid walnut handles and inner drawer boxes constructed with intricate dovetail joinery.
Known to collectors for his strict adherence to quality with respect to the furniture he manufactured or imported for sale, designer and entrepreneur Maurice Villency brought the highest standards of excellence into his stores. He created and built his own furniture in a loft studio in Manhattan and eventually opened a handful of retail outlets in the New York metro area that offered sleek and stylish furnishings from all over the world. Villency is among the small business owners that helped introduce the Scandinavian modern style to the United States during the postwar era, when tastemakers sold Americans on the warmer aspects of Scandinavian design.
Featuring a cleverly designed drop-down desk top, three large storage drawers (one of which includes functioning lock and key) and four smaller drawers in the upper portion for easy organization this desk packs a ton of versatility in a small size. Ideal for apartments or those who are limited on space but unwilling to compromise on style and functionality. Possibly the only walnut model available for sale in North America this ultra-rare secretary desk won't last long. Make it yours today before it's truly gone forever.
