"Leo Rex," a stunning portrait of acclaimed Chicago artist Leopold Segedin (1927-2025) by James Hoffman, c. 1950. Oil on canvas. Newly framed in a dark walnut hardwood frame. Beautifully detailed and textured throughout.
Segedin was student at the University of Illinois from 1944-1950 where he obtained a BFA and MFA before becoming an acclaimed artist and professor in Chicago. This painting was done by his classmate, James Hoffman, while they were both students.
