About the designer danielle quarante
danielle quarante is a french designer active primarily in the 1970s, a period marked by great formal freedom and the exploration of new materials. Her work is firmly rooted in the space age and postmodernist aesthetics, with a predilection for plexiglas, which she uses to play with transparency, layering, and the diffusion of light.
her creations, both sculptural and functional, demonstrate an experimental approach to lighting, typical of this decade focused on innovation and technological optimism.
this majestic pair of acrylic glass lamps, the cyclade model, is a remarkable illustration of danielle quarante's work.
the composition is based on a subtle interplay of superimposed cylindrical volumes: a smoked acrylic glass base supports an opal acrylic glass diffuser, creating an elegant contrast between dark transparency and milky softness.
when lit, the lamps offer a warm, enveloping, and perfectly diffused light that highlights the depth of the material and its internal reflections. When unlit, they retain a strong, almost architectural, sculptural presence, making these pieces true decorative objects as well as functional ones.
presented as a pair, they naturally find their place on either side of a sofa, on console tables, or as accent lamps.
