This mid-century art glass piece is attributed to Murano based on its sommerso construction with lattimo glass. Sommerso is a layered glassblowing technique developed and widely used by Venetian glassmakers. The rich red body is accented with embedded silver foil (foglia d’argento), a detail characteristic of Murano studio work from the era. The polished pontil further suggests skilled handcraft typical of Italian glassmaking traditions.
This piece functions beautifully as an ashtray, catchall, or simply as a sculptural accent. Its optical depth and vivid color give it a strong presence, ideal for adding a subtle hit of mid-century style to a space.
