Wycinanki origins are reported to be with 19th Century sheepherders clipping designs out of bark and leather during downtime in bad weather. This art form evolved to the intricate paper designs common in the Slavic areas of Poland, Ukraine, and Belarus among others.
These framed examples are in the Gwiazdy style with circular geometric floral patterns which read similar in spirit to a Karma wheel or mandala.
The larger two measure 9.75" in diameter and the two smaller ones are 7.75" in diameter. The frames are approximately 1" deep.
A few light marks to the frames but appropriate for age. The dust papers on the reverse have small tears near the hangers.
