Produced in 1971 by Galerie Hoeppner, Essen, this piece is part of Edition of 125.Günter Fruhtrunk (1923–1982) was one of the most significant German geometric-abstract painters of the post-war era. Studying under Fernand Léger in Paris, he developed a unique language of rhythmic, vector-like diagonal stripes that create intense optical vibration. Unlike American Hard Edge painting, Fruhtrunk's work is derived from a musical sense of rhythm and a philosophical inquiry into the nature of color and dynamism. He represented Germany at Documenta 4 and the Venice Biennale (1968). He is famously known for designing the iconic Aldi bag.Condition:
