Produced in 1924 by Edition Panderma, Basel, this piece is part of Edition of 230.Thilo Maatsch (1900–1983) was a German Constructivist artist. Associated with the November Group and the "Der Sturm" circle, he was an ardent proponent of geometric abstraction in the 1920s. His early woodcuts and paintings explore the dynamic interplay of form and plane, influenced by Kandinsky and Moholy-Nagy. Like many of his generation, his career was interrupted by the Nazi regime's condemnation of "degenerate art," but he remains a significant figure in the history of German avant-garde art.Condition:
