A rare piece by this fabulous designer.

Excellent condition. May, however, show some signs of age. Nothing to report.



Philippe Barbier:

Master craftsman Philippe Barbier created table lamps used on the sets of numerous French films, as well as furniture and decorative items such as coffee tables and candlesticks.

The designer and furniture manufacturer worked in Paris throughout the 1960s and 1970s.
He was known for using steel to give his pieces a brilliant shine.

Barbier ran a small studio called Maison Barbier in the center of Paris, on Rue du Pré aux Clercs. In addition to manufacturing his own furniture, he sold the work of other designers.
Maison Barbier was notably the first to distribute the iconic Tam-Tam 1968 stool by French designer Henry Massonnet. Barbier also contributed to the design of the stool, which is still in production today.

Barbier lamps were highly regarded for their unique designs, often characterized by elegant curves and bases in stone or polished metal.
Their striking shapes attracted the attention of many filmmakers.
Among the films in which Barbier lamps appear in the background are The Return of the Tall Blond Man (1974), Fear Over the City (1975), We Will All Go to Heaven (1977), The MAC (2010), and In the House (2012). This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
