René Malaval was a French designer active primarily in the 1940s and 50s. He became known for his industrial furniture made of perforated sheet metal: robust armchairs and outdoor lounge sets with a simple and functional design. His most cited piece is the "Radar" armchair (circa 1948–50), produced by Bloc Métal, which was also available as chairs and garden sets. Several sources mention the use of salvaged post-war sheet metal, explaining the technical aesthetic and sturdiness of the designs. His work regularly appears in galleries and at auction (furniture signed "René Malaval"). Today, these pieces are sought after for their utilitarian lines and industrial patina. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
