Chandelier Lamp Shabby chic style lamp; a romantic and ethereal style, a design form that calls for light pastel colors, if not white, with details that recall a worn object, consumed over time. The term "shabby chic" literally means "shabby elegant," a term coined by The World of Interiors magazine in 1980 and subsequently became extremely popular in the United States in the 1990s. This style, not entirely new to Europe, was strongly influenced by Italian cultures, particularly those of the Mediterranean: Provençal, Tuscan, and Greek. Presented in the form of a candelabra, this lamp's uniqueness is found in every detail, from the shade—a collection of finely carved leaves in white-painted wrought iron—to the hanging crystal drops that provide light.
