Massive floating top coffee or cocktail table custom made in the 1960s by storied Los Angeles design firm Cannell & Chaffin, whose clients included William Randolph Hearst and Richard & Pat Nixon. The table was designed for a mid century modern home in Ladera Heights.
The top is suspended within a wrought steel frame, no small feat for a table of this size. At just over six feet wide and nearly three feet deep, it has the scale to accompany a large sofa or sectional.
The oak tabletop has been fully refinished. It was intentionally distressed at the time of production, complimenting the handmade character of the steel frame. We left the distress marks as-is during refinishing in order to preserve the aesthetic of the table.
The tabletop measures 68" x28".
