Key characteristics of fully vitrified china include:
Impermeability: It has a water absorption rate of less than 0.5%. This makes it virtually waterproof and prevents the absorption of food odors, flavors, or bacteria.

While original vintage Fiesta (pre-1986) was semi-vitreous (more porous), modern Fiesta produced by the Fiesta Tableware Company is fully vitrified. This upgrade is why contemporary pieces are much more durable and better suited for modern appliance use than their vintage counterparts.
