Born in Pennsylvania in 1950, Ken Shotwell initially had a career in aerospace and nuclear engineering, working on projects for NASA, including Skylab mission and Apollo Lunar mission astronaut backpacks. He transitioned to a professional art career in the mid-1980s and has since created over 2000 original paintings. Shotwell is known for his surreal, dream-like images and mystical quality in his artwork. He was recognized by the New the York Times as the "leading seller of art prints" in the mid-1980s. He sometimes uses pseudonyms for different styles of art, such as "Lesle Louken" for art deco works and "Chain Chatell" for pastoral scenes. This artwork is hand signed and numbered by the artist.
