**Exceptional Neoclassical Pedestal Planter with Original Zinc Insert
Amsterdam, ca. 1900–1920**
An exceptional and highly decorative neoclassical pedestal planter, originating from a prestigious townhouse at the Museumplein in Amsterdam, constructed in 1907.
Executed in high-quality cast stone, the planter is richly ornamented with finely modelled floral garlands and ribbon motifs in deep relief. The piece retains its original removable zinc insert, an increasingly rare feature that ensured durability and practical use while preserving the integrity of the stone — a hallmark of refined architectural interiors at the turn of the 20th century.
Pedestal planters of this quality were reserved for grand entrance halls, conservatories, and winter gardens of affluent city residences, where they functioned as both decorative and architectural statements.
