Designed in 1935, it combines a minimalist, modern aesthetic with the material honesty typical of the period: tubular steel, leather, and wood form a harmonious, functional unity. The curved steel tubes give the sofa its characteristic silhouette, while the gentle curves and sturdy wooden sled base lend the piece an almost floating lightness. The central section is reminiscent of a daybed and offers comfort with its wide reclining surface and flat back. The full-surface genuine leather upholstery with original padding displays a beautiful patina – authentically aged and full of character. Light surface rust on the chrome shows signs of age. Part of the manufacturer's mark is still preserved on the rear frame: Hynek Gottwald, Brandýs nad Orlicí. Hynek Gottwald was a leading producer of functionalist tubular steel furniture in the Czech Republic during the 1930s. This piece is a significant collector's item, embodying the spirit of early modernism while also serving as a striking design object for any living space.
