A dive into the color and bold shapes of the 1970s. This ceramic (majolica) centerpiece is a magnificent example of Modernist/Space Age design, likely of European manufacture.
Design and Glazing: The shape is organic and trilobed (composed of three joined cups), reminiscent of the cellular or natural structures typical of the design of that decade. The real highlight is the glaze: a deep, intense red that covers the interior and exterior, enhanced along the edges by a spectacular relief drip (Fat Lava or Drip Glaze effect) in shades of acid yellow and ochre. This chromatic contrast creates a highly decorative volcanic effect.
