Origin italy period first half of the twentieth century author alberto salietti was born in ravenna on 15 march 1892 into a family of mural decorators – son of the painter silvio salietti and giulia orselli –, and began his artistic training by collaborating with his father. He then attended the brera academy in milan until 1914, where he was a pupil of cesare tallone and mentessi. During the first world war he interrupted his activity, which he resumed at the end of the conflict. From 1920 he participated in the venice biennale, subsequently also obtaining the grand prize for painting (in 1942). He also participated in important international exhibitions: the barcelona international (1929), budapest (1936), the carnegie institute exhibition in pittsburgh (1936) and the world exhibition in paris (1937). Salietti was among the founders of the novecento italiano movement, serving as its secretary. His works primarily range from landscapes, still lifes, and portraits; they are present in italian and international public collections (rome, florence, milan, turin, berlin, zurich, moscow, paris, and warsaw). He died in chiavari on september 19, 1961. After his death, numerous posthumous exhibitions were held in his memory.
