A curious pair of elephant paperweights of French origin, made in the 1980s. The figures are carved from veined marble, recognizable by its milky hue with gray and black veins. Both elephants are depicted in a dynamic pose, with their trunks raised, and rest on dark, carved wooden bases with an organic and irregular profile. This piece reflects the French taste of the late 20th century, which was very interested in combining exotic styles, as is the case with these paperweights, which may remind us of Asian stylistic movements.
