This elegant antique Persian Laver Kerman carpet is an outstanding example of the refined weaving tradition that made the Laver (Ravar) workshops of Kerman world-famous during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Laver Kermans are regarded as the finest carpets produced in the Kerman region, distinguished by their exceptionally fine weave, velvety wool, graceful drawing, and sophisticated floral artistry.
The carpet displays a magnificent all-over floral composition centered around an elaborate ivory medallion that blends harmoniously into a densely ornamented midnight-blue field. Thousands of finely drawn blossoms, roses, palmettes, and scrolling vines create the celebrated "millefleur" (thousand flowers) effect that has become one of the hallmarks of the finest antique Laver Kerman carpets. Every element is executed with remarkable precision, giving the carpet extraordinary visual richness while maintaining perfect symmetry and balance.
Its luxurious palette combines deep midnight blue, rich crimson, rose, ivory, soft gold, lavender, celadon green, and delicate sky-blue highlights. The natural dyes have mellowed beautifully over the past century, producing the warm, harmonious color balance that collectors prize. The broad floral border frames the composition perfectly, adding elegance without competing with the intricate field.
The exceptionally fine weave allows for remarkable clarity of detail, while the soft, lustrous wool gives the carpet a luxurious texture and subtle sheen. Despite being over one hundred years old, the carpet remains in good condition, with an even pile that continues to display the extraordinary craftsmanship of the original weavers.
Large room-size Laver Kermans of this quality are increasingly difficult to find, particularly examples retaining their original colors, fine drawing, and balanced proportions. They remain among the most desirable decorative Persian carpets for both traditional and contemporary interiors.
