Delightful vitrified hard-paste porcelain ashtray, entirely hand-decorated, featuring a floral decoration on a white background on the rim and a Raphaelesque pate-sure pate decoration on the rim against a light blue background. The base of the ashtray is crafted from gilded bronze with three feet further decorated with lightly embossed decorations, as is the upper rim, also crafted from gilded bronze with relief decorations and embellished with a small leaf for a cigarette. On the back of the ashtray, there is an underglaze inscription in red in French, indicating that the ashtray was designed and painted entirely by hand in Paris, France, for the French manufacturer Le Tallec. Immediately below the red inscription is the underglaze blue mark of the Le Tallec manufacturer, with two symbols indicating the year, while the letters immediately below are the initials of the decorator. This is because the Le Tallec factory, founded in Paris in 1928, used this mark until 1940, placing two different letters between the "L" and the "T" every six months. The object dates to around 1930, and the wonderful patina covering it is perfectly consistent with our dating.
